Ethereum Classic preserves the original version of Ethereum and it was created with the goal of keeping it unaltered, running irreversible smart contracts, free from external influence and tampering. In the Ethereum Classic mission statement, it is stated that the main concern is the maintenance of decentralized, censorship-resistant, permissionless blockchains, with the use of system forks only justified if it serves the purpose of correcting platform bugs instead of bailing out of failed contracts and fulfilling personal interests.
The Die Hard fork was implemented in Ethereum Classic in 2017, although there is still no intention of moving to Proof of Stake.
