CEX.IO is indisputably one of the biggest names in the cryptocurrency business. It is currently one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges, with over 700,000 customers. Although deemed as trustworthy by most experts and users, it is often criticized for its allegedly terrifying set of fees. In this comprehensive CEX.IO review, we shall explore the options this world-famous cryptocurrency exchange offers, as well as its multiple notorious fees.
About The Company
CEX.IO was founded in 2013 in London and at the time, it was the only service provider in the untapped market of cloud mining. In the meantime, it has built its name as one of the most trusted and reliable multi-functional cryptocurrency exchanges. Although at one point it had it hands on nearly half of all the mining power available, it stopped offering its cloud mining services in the first quarter of 2015 and continued to operate exclusively as a cryptocurrency exchange.
It currently allows its customers to trade via its website, mobile app, WebSocket, and REST API. Its services are available to both novices and expert and corporate traders all over the world, with a number of payment options, great stability, and maximum protection of clients’ assets and data.
How CEX.IO Works
By creating an account with CEX.IO, you get the chance to instantly buy and sell BTC and ETH and engage in BTC trading, along with the margin trading option with 1:2 and 1:3 leverages on BTC/USD, BTC/EUR, and ETH/BTC pairs. The supported payment methods include Visa, Master Card, Bank Transfer, Crypto Capital, and SEPA (EUR only). The trading limits depend on the account type. Learn more about them in the next section of this CEX.IO review.
For instant BTC and ETH purchases and sales, CEX.IO has designed a simplified bundle interface available on the Buy/Sell page of the company’s website. The exchanges are based on FOK (Fill-Or-Kill) orders. The prices of BTC and ETH are updated every 120 seconds and frozen for the same amount of time. Once you place your order, it is immediately executed on the agreed terms, unless there is a sudden spike in the rates or there are not enough funds in your account. The amount you receive can only be equal to the agreed amount or greater, never smaller.
The Trade page of the company’s site is dedicated to trading using limit and market order placement. The clients gain an abundance of valuable information, including BTC price fluctuations, market depth chart, trade history, real-time orderbook overview, and more.
It is important to note that there is a system-wide limit on the amount that can be withdrawn to a single card. For Visa and Master Card, the limit is $2000 or equivalent in other supported currencies per single card per day and $50,000 per month, including all inbound payments, not only the ones executed by CEX.IO.
Buying & Selling Limits
CEX.IO basic packages include purchases of BTC and ETH for the amounts of $100, $200, $500, and $1000. You can also choose a custom amount. The minimum amount for ETH is 0.1 and the maximum is 200 ETH for a single order. For BTC, the minimum amount for a single order is 0.01 and the maximum is 10 BTC.
The basic packages for selling BTC include selling 0.2, 0.5, 1, and 2 BT while the basic offers for ETH include selling 10, 20, 50, and 100 ETH. The minimum and maximum amounts for a single order are the same as in the case of purchasing.
Your daily and monthly total account limits depend on the account type you opt for. CEX.IO offers 4 account types: Basic, Verified, Verified Plus, and Corporate. With the Basic account, you can deposit $300 daily, $1000 monthly, and the only payment method available is Visa/Master Card.
